the absolute first things that you will need is a good yoga mat.
But, if you are new to yoga, you may not know what kind of mat
you will need. If this is the case for you, here is some info:
• Flat ? The mat must be flat if you want to truly do some
relaxing yoga. If the mat does not lie flat, you will spend energy
focusing on the one part that isn’t flat and thus make it
harder on yourself to concentrate.
• Wide ? The mat needs to be wide enough for you to be able
to maneuver on it. Yoga is about freedom of the body and spirit
and if the mat is too small to be able to offer you the freedom
you need, there could be problems.
• Firm, yet comfortable ? The mat should not be like a pillow,
however it also should not be like a slab of concrete. It should
be firm, but there should be ample padding that makes it feel
fairly comfortable.
